Private Peter Kenneth Hodgson, known as Kenneth, was the son of James Whitfield Hodgson and Dorothy Hodgson, of South Woodford, Essex, originally enlisted with The Buffs (East Kent Regiment), before transferring to 9th Parachute Battalion. He saw service in the Normandy campaign and took part in the Allied response in to the Ardennes offensive during Winter 1944-5.
Kenneth was successfully parachute jump trained at RAF Ringway on course 96. This course ran between 16 and 30 December 1943. His instructor noted this about Kenneth's performance on the course:
"Keen intelligent pupil, good performer"
Private Hodgson died on 28 January 1945, aged 21 years old. He is now buried at Venray War Cemetery, Limburg.
