Lieutenant-Colonel Peter Bing MBE

Peter Bing joined The A&SH at Stirling Castle as a boy soldier in 1946. He saw service in Palestine and Korea with The 1st Argylls. On return from Korea in 1951 Peter applied for selection into The Parachute Regiment. He passed his course July 1952. 

He was QM for 1 PARA, 2 PARA and Depot PARA. Peter was also QM for XV PARA. He was successfully parachute jump trained at RAF Abingdon on Course 334. 

Peter was awarded an MBE 14 June 1969. 

Peter became an RSM, and then 1 March 1971 was commissioned. He rose to the rank of Major. Peter was awarded the rank of Lt. Col. before he retired in April 1984.

He sadly passed away at the age of 93 on 14 July 2024. A ceremony was held on 8 August at Hereford Crematorium.
