Lance Sergeant Paul Bernard Howell enlisted into the Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders and volunteered for airborne forces shortly after the formation of No 1 Parachute Brigade during World War II.
He qualified as a military parachutist after attending Parachute Traning Course 9 which ran at RAF Ringway from 2 to 14 March 1942 and served with 4th Battalion, The Parachute Regiment.
