Patrick Sullivan was the son of Micheal and Jane Sullivan, of Wicklow, Irish Republic. He enlisted in the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers and volunteered for airborne forces.
Private Sullivan successfully completed his parachute training on course number 50 at RAF Kabrit, Egypt, and was posted to 11th Battalion, The Parachute Regiment. He took part in Operation Market Garden (Arnhem).
Pte Sullivan was killed in action on 21 September 1944, aged 26, and was given a field burial in a mass grave in the grounds of Hotel Sonnenberg, Oosterbeek, and was reinterred to Arnhem Oosterbeek War Cemetery on 20 August 1945.
