Norman Sparvell qualified as a military parachutist on Course 162 which ran at RAF Ringway from 30 April to 7 May 1945.
He subsequently served for 25 years in the airborne forces, mainly with 3rd Battalion, The Parachute Regiment, retiring in 1970.
Sadly, Norman Sparvell died from cancer in 1984.
