Sergeant Michael Joseph Elliott initially served with the Royal Tank Regiment, Royal Armoured Corps and won the Military Medal for actions in the Middle East in 1942, before transferring to Airborne service. He subsequently joined 11th Parachute Battalion and took part in the Battle of Arnhem, during Op Market Garden.
Sergeant Elliott died on 19 September 1944, aged 25 years old. He is now buried at Oosterbeek War Cemetery, Arnhem.
