Lesley Basil Tuck enlisted into the General Service Corps and was posted to the 10th (East Riding Yeomanry) Battalion of the Green Howards.
Private Tuck volunteered for airborne forces when The 12th (Yorkshire) Parachute Battalion was formed in May 1943 from the 10th (East Riding Yeomanry) Battalion of the Green Howards. Pte Tuck attended Parachute Training course No 69 at RAF Ringway between 21 June and 1 July 1943.
He served in Normandy with Headquaters Company, 12th Para Bn.
Pte Tuck demobeed in March 1946 but re-enlisted in March 1950
