Private Leonard Young

Leonard Young was the son of Leonard and Louise Young, of Oldbury, Worcestershire. He enlisted in the South Staffordshire Regiment and volunteered for airborne forces.

Private Young successfully completed his glider training, and was posted to Support Company, 2nd (Airborne) Battalion, South Staffordshire Regiment and took part in operation Market Garden (Arnhem).

Pte Young died of wounds on 18 September 1944, aged 20, and was buried at Rhenen (Elst) General Cemetery, Utrecht, Netherlands.
