Private Len Saunders was a soldier in the 1st Canadian Parachute Battalion. He came from Parry Sound, Ontario.
He qualified as a parachutist on 11 September, 1943 and became part of HQ Company. He was pictured on a promotional image of the "first Canadians in France", but was captured in Normandy and sent to Stalag 4C in German-occupied Czechoslovakia.
He survived the war and died on July 24, 1994.
