John R 'Beefy' Beaman joined the Army 25 June 1940. He transferred to the 1st Parachute Bn, REN Coy from The Royal Berks Reg.
John successfully gained his parachute jump qualification 'wings' at RAF Ringway on Course 13. On this course he is listed as being a member of The 3rd Parachute Bn. Many men trained as a member of the 3rd Bn before quickly being transferred to the 1st Bn. His name has been mistyped as 'Beamont' on the original course reports. The course ran between 4 and 21 may 1942.
Beefy served with 1st Bn in N.Africa and joined the Reserves 12 September 1946
