John Frederick Foden enlisted into the General Service Corps.
He volunteered for airborne forces whilst serving with The Sherwood Foresters.
Private Foden qualified as a military parachutist on course 128 which ran at RAF Ringway from 7 to 20 August 1944 and was initially posted to the Airborne Forces Holding Unit.
He served in the Far East with the 22nd Independent Company the Parachute Regiment (Pathfinders).
Pte Foden died on 13 March 1946 and is buried at the Jakarta War Cemetery, Java.
