John Davison was the son of Gerald and Joan Davison, of Putney, London. He was granted a commission in the Royal Artillery and seconded to The Parachute Regiment.
Lieutenant Davison successfully completed his parachute training at RAF Kabrit, Egypt, and commanded 7 Platoon, B Company, 156 Battalion, The Parachute Regiment, and took part in Operation Market Garden (Arnhem).
Lt Davison jumped clear of his C-47, but was hit by machine gun fire in mid air. He was found on the DZ, Ginkel Heath, at Ede, mortally wounded (Roll of Honour, 5th revised edition, 2011). He died on 18 September 1944, aged 23, and is commemorated on the Groesbeek Memorial to the missing.
