Private John A Bird

Private John Albert Bird was the son of John Albert Oxley and Ethel Maud Bird, and husband of Lily Bird, of Roos, Yorkshire. He served with 6 Platoon B Company 156 Parachute Battalion and took part in the Battle of Arnhem, during Op Market Garden.

Private Bird died on 18 September 1944, aged 33 years old. He is now buried at Oosterbeek War Cemetery, Arnhem.
