John Bernard Eyre was the son of Hugh and Nellie Eyre, of Little Sutton, Cheshire.
Private Eyre successfully completed his parachute training on the 14 August 1945. It was noted that he was "Cheerful and hard working. Reached a good standard."
Pte Eyre was posted to the AAC Holding Battalion and then transferred to the 195 Airlanding Field Ambulance, Royal Army Medical Corps.
He was killed alongside L/Cpl Voce on the 31 October 1946 in Plaestine, when an explosion caused his ambulance to overturn and catch fire. He is now buried in Ramleh War Cemetery, Israel.
