Private James Frost was the son of George and Sarah Frost, of Sheffield.
He served with the Royal Signals during World War II and volunteered for The Parachute Regiment while deployed overseas. It seems likely that he qualified as a parachutist at Kabrit.
He subsequently served with B Company, 10th Parachute Battalion and took part in the divisional assault to capture the Rhine crossings at Arnhem as part of Operation Market Garden.
Pte James Frost died on 19 September 1944, aged 24 years old, and initially received a field burial north of Johanna Hoeve. He is now buried at Oosterbeek War Cemetery, Arnhem.
