Private James Felix Hammond, son of Albert John and Emily Went Hammond, of Lawford, Manningtree, Essex, served with 9th (Essex) Parachute Battalion. He took part in the Normandy campaign, during Op Overlord.
Private Hammond died on 19 August 1944, aged 23 years old. He is now buried at Ranville War Cemetery, Normandy.
