Jack Kerr was the son of John and Margaret A Kerr, of Prescot, Lancashire, he enlisted in the Royal Corps of Signals and volunteered for Airborne Forces.
Signalman Kerr successfully completed parachute training at RAF Ringway on course number 35 from 29 October to 7 November 1942 and was posted to 6th Airborne Divisional Signals, Royal Corps of Signals, and took part in Operation Varsity (Rhine Crossing).
Sgmn Kerr was killed in action on 31 March 1945, aged 30, and was given a field burial at Hamminkeln, Germany, and was re-interred to Reichswald Forest War Cemetery on 14 November 1946.
