Pte Jack Copley briefly enslited into the Leicestershire Regiment before volunteering for airborne forces.
He qualified as a military parachutists on Course 40 which ran at RAF Ringway from 1 to 11 December 1942 and served in HQ Company, 6th (Royal Welch) Parachute Battalion.
