Private Jack Brookbanks was the son of Olive Brookbanks, and nephew of Mrs L Pearson, of Hull. He served with 2nd Parachute Battalion and took part in the invasion of Sicily.
Private Brookbanks died during the operation between 14-18 July 1943, aged 24 years old. He is now commemorated on the Memorial at Cassino War Cemetery, Italy.
