After volunteering for airborne forces, J A Taylor took part in parachute course 101 which lasted from 31 January 1944 to 13 February 1944.It was noted in the course report that Driver Taylor was "Above average, very confident parachutist"
After successfully completing course 101, Dvr Taylor joined 250 (Airborne) Light Composite Company, Royal Army Service Corps. He took part in the first airlift at Arnhem (Operation Market Garden) and was taken as a Prisoner of War.
He was taken to Stalag IV-F in Hartmannsdorf, Saxony.
