Herbert Kidwell enlisted in The Lincolnshire Regiment before volunteering for airborne forces in 1943 .
He qualified as a military parachutist on Course 76, which ran at RAF Ringway between 2 August 1943 and 13 August 1943.
The course report states ‘Sgt Kidwell: Excellent NCO. Good body control on jumping’
gt Kidwell was posted to A Coy, 7th (Light Infantry) Parachute Battalion.
Company Quartermaster Sergeant (CQMS) Kidwell saw active service in Normandy, the Ardennes and on the Rhine Crossing. He became a reservist in March 1946.
