Henry "Harry" Oliver was born on 21 January 1920 and he was a son of George and Eleanor (Ellen) Agnes Oliver (nee McAvoy)
he married Audrey Lilian Heath from Glapwell, Derbyshire were married in the first quarter of 1943 in the Parish of Ault Hucknall
Harry Oliver joined the Oxford and Bucks Light Infantry two years before the outbreak of war, and he volunteered for service with the 2nd Battalion Ox and Buck Regiment, which became an Airborne Battalion during WW2. This Battalion were glider borne troops.
I had a serious accident during training. Then after a period in hospital, he was discharged from the Army with a disability pension and underwent a series of operations, the last of which was in December 1945.
Corporal Harry Oliver was just 26 when he died in Chesterfield Royal Hospital, Derbyshire on 7 February 1946.
He was laid to rest at Ault Hucknall (St. John the Baptist) Churchyard Extension (Row 9 Grave 10)
He is also commemorated: Newtownards and District War Memorial.
