Sergeant Harry Oliver Carter was the son of Henry and Maud Rose Carter; husband of Anna Carter and came from Hertfordshire.
He served with 225 Parachute Field Ambulance and took part in the Normandy campaign.
It is believed that Sgt Carter may have been in the Regimental Aid Post of the 7th Parachute Battalion when it received a direct hit from an 88 mm Self Propelled Gun.
Sgt Carter died on 7 August 1944, aged 34 years and is now buried at Ranville War Cemetery, Normandy.
