Private Harold Mudie was the son of Violet Robertson Mudie, and stepson of James Grainger, of Dundee.
He volunteered for airborne forces while serving with The Seaforth Highlanders during World War II and qualified as a miltiary parachutist on Course 45 at RAF Ringway during January 1943.
He was posted to HQ Company of the 5th (Scottish) Parachute Battalion, deployed to North Africa and took part in the Italian campaign in late 1943.
Private Mudie died on 12 December 1943, aged 20 years old, and is now buried at Sangro River War Cemetery, near Taranto, Italy.
