Private Harold C Trotman

Harold Clifford Trotman was the son of Benjamin and Margaret Ann (Harle) Trotman, of South Shields, County Durham, he enlisted in the General Service Corps and volunteered for airborne forces.

Private Trotman successfully completed parachute training at RAF Ringway on course number 78 from 14 to 24 August 1943. His course report stated “Keen and confident, but rather slow in stick work”. He was posted to A Company, 2 Platoon, 7th Battalion, The Parachute Regiment, and took part in Operation Overlord (Normandy).

Pte Trotman was killed in action on 18 June 1944, aged 21, and was buried in Ranville War Cemetery, Calvados, France.
