Warrant Officer Class 1 Godfrey I Hartley

Godfrey ‘Gus’ Hartley enlisted in February 1965 into the Royal Signals and volunteered for airborne forces in 1965.

He passed P Company in March 1968 and jump training at RAF Abingdon on course 684 in May 1968.

Hartley was posted to 216 Parachute Signal Squadron, Aldershot, promoted from Signalman to Sergeant and served with them until 1976. Whilst in 216 he was selected to attend a Yeomans of Signals Course, which he attended and passed.

WO1 Hartley retired after 24 years service in 1989.
