Sergeant George A Ware

George Albert Ware was the son of Charles Edward and Elizabeth Ada (Pattinson) Ware; husband of Margaret Joan (Lloyd) Ware, of Reigate, Surrey.

George was born on 25 January 1910 at 16 Aberdour Street, Bermondsey, London and married Margaret Lloyd  in March 1936 in Camberwell, London. He enlisted in the Royal Pioneer Corps and volunteered for airborne forces.

Sergeant Ware successfully completed parachute training at RAF Ringway on course number 35 from 29 October to 7 November 1942 and was posted to the 2nd Battalion, Parachute Regiment, and took part in Operation Husky (Sicily).

Sgt Ware was killed in action on 14 July 1943, aged 33. He was given a field burial and was re-interred to Catania War Cemetery, Sicily on 4th May 1944.
