Private George A Emanuel

George Alexander Emanuel, son of Montague and Florence Emanuel, of Paddington, London, enlisted in the Royal Fusiliers and volunteered for airborne forces.

Private Emanuel successfully completed his parachute training at RAF Ringway on course number 109 from 27 March to 7 April 1944 and was posted to 10th Battalion The Parachute Regiment and took part in Operation Market Garden (Arnhem).

Pte Emaneul died of wounds on 20 September 1944, aged 28, and was given a field burial by Reverends Daniel McGowan and Alan Buchanan at the Arnhem Municipal Hospital. He was re-interred to Arnhem Oosterbeek War Cemetery on 5 October 1945.
