George Edward Partington was born in Stockport, Cheshire, the son of Henry and Margaret Nisbet Partington. He married Vera Beryl, also of Stockport.
He enlisted in the Royal Army Medical Corps and later attended parachute training course number K41 at Ramat David in Palestine. Corporal Partington was attached to the 10th Parachute Battalion and saw service in Arnhem during Operation Market Garden.
At some point between 18 and 20 September 1944, Cpl Partington was Killed in Action, aged 28.
He is named on the Grosebeek Memorial in the Netherlands.
