Private George Davis

28 Mar 1945

George Davis, son of George and Alice Davis, of Birmingham, enlisted into the General Service Corps and volunteered for airborne forces.

Private Davis successfully completed his parachute training at RAF Ringway on course 151B from 30 January to 16 February 1945 and was posted to The 8th (Midlands) Parachute Battalion. He took part in Operation Varsity (Rhine Crossing).

Pte Davis was killed in action on 28 March 1945, aged 21. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Groesbeek Memorial.
