Geoffrey Clifton, son of Harry and Florence Clifton, of West Bromwich, Staffordshire, enlisted into The Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry and volunteered for airborne forces.
Private Clifton successfully completed Glider training and was posted to 2nd (Airborne) Battalion Oxford and Bucks Light Infantry. He took part in the 6th Airborne response to the German counter-offensive in the Ardennes, during Winter 1944-5.
Pte Clifton was killed in action on 8 January 1945, aged 22, and buried in Resteigne (Belgium) temporary burial ground. He was later reinterred in Hotton War Cemetery on 20 May 1947.
