Private Gavin Pollock Burns, son of James and Mary Burns, of Kilbirnie, Ayrshire, served with 5th (Scottish) Parachute Battalion. He took part in the Op Dragoon to Southern France.
Private Burns died on 15 August 1944, aged 20 years old. He is now buried at Mazargues War Cemetery, Marseilles, France.
