Served with 5th Airborne Bde in the 1980's.
Gary grew up in the 70's and 80's and always wanted to be a soldier. He eventually joined in 1985 and trained at Deepcut Barracks
He did his basic training there when part of Gibralter Platoon under Sgt Evans. Passed out around June 1985 and then went to Driffield to do driver training. Gary successfully passed his HGV and car licence.
He was then posted to Aldershot 5th Airborne Bde Log Bttn (82 PARA Ordnance Corps). Gary enjoyed his time there and left 31 July 1987 and was stood down 31 July 1988 and honorably discharged after some legal issues (not concerning Gary).
Since then he has run many small businesses over the years. Gary is still in touch with many of his former Marine friends and some PARA medics (3 PFA were based at Log Bttn, Aldershot when he served) and RCT friends (including one who went SAS) who were next door.
3 PARA were over the road at this time. Gary was honored to serve under Sir General Rose at this time.
Gary is Jewish and has friends serving in the Israeli IDF. Gary took part in Ex. "Brave Defender" and other exercises in Germany.
