Frederick Wagstaff was the son of Samuel and Evelyn Wagstaff, of Hollingwood, Derbyshire, he enlisted in the Welch Regiment and volunteered for airborne forces.
Private Wagstaff successfully completed parachute training at RAF Ringway and was posted to B Company, 10 Platoon, 6th (10th Battalion the Royal Welch Fusiliers) Battalion the Parachute Regiment, and took part in operations in Italy, Southern France and Greece.
Pte Wagstaff died of wounds on 5 December 1944, aged 25, and was given a field burial in Kifisia Civil Cemetery and was re-interred to Phaleron War Cemetery on 31 January 1945.
