Frederick Thomas Travers Field, the son of Lt Col Frederick Denton Field, Royal Artillery and Lindsay Florence Field, of Church Stanton, Somerset, volunteered for airborne forces in 1945.
After successful completion of his parachute training, he was posted to 17th Battalion, The Parachute Regiment and served in Palestine.
Captain Field died on 8 May 1946 and is now buried at Ramleh War Cemetery.
