Frederick Henry John Bond was the son of Albert Henry and Eva Nellie Mary Bond, of Wellington, Somerset.
After volunteering for airborne forces, Lance Corporal Bond served with 6 Airborne Divisional Provost Company in Palestine.
On 1 March 1947 the jeep he was travelling in was hit by a land mine disguised as a kilo stone, killing two and injuring two members of his Provost Company. L/Cpl Bond died the next day from his wounds.
L/Cpl Bond is now buried in Khayat Beach War Cemetery, Israel.
