Lieutenant Euan Basil Cyril Charteris, nicknamed Junior, was the son of Brig Gen John Charteris CMG, DSO and of Noel Charteris, of Lymington, Hampshire. He originally served with King's Own Scottish Borderers, before being attached to 2nd Parachute Battalion.
He took part in the first Parachute Regiment raid at Bruneval and was later awarded the Military Cross for his actions during the Raid, in May 1942. He went on to take part in the North African campaign, during Op Torch.
Lieutenant Charteris died on 3 December 1942, aged 21 years old. He is now buried at Massicault War Cemetery, Tunisia.
