Ernest Calvert, son of Ernest and Mary Calvert of Liverpool, volunteered from the King's Own Regiment.
He successfully passed parachute jump instruction at RAF Ringway on course 76. This course ran between 2 and 13 August 1943. His instructor noted this about his performance: "Worked hard to improve body control - constantly good throughout course"
Ernest became a member of The 4th Parachute Bn, C Coy, 10 Pln.
He took part in operations in Italy and then later in the South Of France on Op Dragoon. He was sadly KIA on 15 August 1944, at just 20 years old.
Ernest was laid to rest at the Mazargues War Cemetery, grave 4.C.5
