Erik Vedsegaard, a Danish national, served with 159 Para Light Regiment in Quetta, India, in 1945. He was one of a small contingent of Danes in the unit.
He qualified as a military parachutist on Course 195 which ran at RAF Upper Heyford from 1 to 25 July 1946, and in 1947 went to Egypt. Shortly thereafter, the unit changed its name to 87th Airborne Field Regiment and was posted to Pardes Hannah and then Benyamina, Palestine.
