Eric Edward Foggo, son of James and Lucy Foggo and husband of Kathleen Foggo, of Settle, Yorkshire, enlisted into The Border Regiment and volunteered for airborne forces.
Lance Corporal Foggo successfully completed his Glider training and was posted to B Company, 1st (Airborne) Battalion, The Border Regt. He took part in Operation Market Garden (Arnhem).
L/Cpl Foggo was killed in action on 21 September 1944, aged 27. He was given a field burial on the Hemelse Berg estate, Oosterbeek and re-interred on 28 August 1945 to Arnhem Oosterbeek War Cemetery.
