Edward Marcus Riche, son of Ernest and Agnes Riche; husband of Ethel Riche, of Croydon, Surrey, he enlisted in The Royal Armoured Corps and then volunteered for airborne forces.
Private Riche successfully completed his parachute training at RAF Ringway on course 99 from 19 January to 3 February 1944, his course report stated “reliable and hard working”, he was posted to 3rd Battalion Parachute Regiment, and took part in Operation Market Garden (Arnhem).
Pte Riche was killed in action on 20 September 1944, aged 31, and is commemorated on the Groesbeek Memorial to the missing.
