Edward Clifford Stanners was the son of Frederick and Monica Iris (Willoughby Stanners, of Southsea, Hampshire, he enlisted in the Royal Army Service Corps and volunteered for Airborne Forces.
Lance Corporal Stanners successfully completed glider training and was posted to 223 Air Despatch Company, Royal Army Service Corps.
L/Cpl Stanners was killed in action on 23 June 1947, aged 21, and is commemorated in Khayat Beach War Cemetery D. E. 2. Israel and Palestine (Including Gaza).
