Private Douglas William Hinds, son of Samuel and Lilian Hinds, of Derby, served with 8th (Midlands) Parachute Battalion. He took part in the D-Day landings to Normandy, during Op Overlord.
Private Hinds died on 6 June 1944, aged 19 years old. He is now commemorated on the Memorial at Bayeux War Cemetery, Normandy.
