David Chisem was commissioned into The Royal Army Ordnance Corps on 18 December 1970 and served with 16 Parachute Heavy Drop Company on conclusion of the RAOC Young Officers' Course in March 1971.
From August 1971 until March 1972 he was OIC Heavy Drop Platoon and from April 1972 until November 1972 he served as Platoon Commander of 6 Platoon, B Coy, 3 PARA for the UNFICYP tour.
He returned to 16 Para Heavy Drop Coy during November and left to commence The Long Armour Infantry Course in January 1973.
David later transferred to The Royal Army Pay Corps in 1979 and retired with the rank of Major on 3 January 1987.
