Clifford Wilson was the son of Charles and Grace Wilson and the husband of Ivy Wilson, of Rodbourne, Swindon, Wiltshire. He enlisted into The King’s Own Royal Regiment and volunteered for airborne forces.
Sergeant Wilson successfully completed glider training and was posted to C Company, 7th (Airborne) Battalion, King’s Own Scottish Borderers, and took part in Operation Market Garden (Arnhem).
Sgt Wilson was killed in action on 23 September 1944, aged 28, he was given a field burial in a massed grave of 14 at a road junction in Oosterbeek and was re-interred to Arnhem Oosterbeek War Cemetery on 28 August 1945.
