Clifford Joseph Allsopp enlisted into The Sherwood Foresters and then volunteered for airborne forces.
Private Allsopp served with 1st (Airborne) Battalion, The Border Regiment and went on Operation Market Garden. Pte Allsopp was made a Prisoner of War at Arnhem.
