'Chuck' Tilley volunteered for airborne forces towards the end of the Second World War and qualified as a military parachutist on course 163, which ran at RAF Ringway in May 1945.
He was posted out to the Indian Airborne Division as a reinforcement and was selected by Major Freddie Templer to join the 44th ( later the 2nd) Independent Pathfinder Company.
'Chuck' was tasked by Major Templer with designing the company standard, a copy of which is attached to this profile.
