Charles H Cox joined the Army 13 January 1939. He served with The Grenadier guards before volunteering for the airborne forces. He served at first with 11 SAS, L Trp. then with The 1st Parachute Bn, T Coy, 11 Pln.
He was jump trained sometime in 1940/41 and saw service in N. Africa, Sicily, Italy, and Op. Market Garden (Arnhem). Charles, now 2ic Sect Commander, was wounded and captured during this last action, and given the POW number 117310 and held at Stalag 11B and 8C.
