Bryan Hebblethwaite was the son of Reginald John and Gladys Hebblethwaite and the husband of Kathleen Hebblethwaite, of Letchworth, Hertfordshire. He enlisted into the Royal West Kent Regiment and volunteered for airborne forces.
Sergeant Hebblethwaite successfully completed his glider pilot training and was posted to 2nd Wing, The Glider Pilot Regiment, and took part in Operation Market Garden (Arnhem).
Sgt Hebblethwaite was killed in action on 19 September 1944, aged 21, and was given a field burial by Reverend Daniel McGowan near the Schoonoord Hotel, Oosterbeek, and was re-interred to Arnhem Oosterbeek War Cemetery on 24 January 1946.
