Lieutenant Brian F McAlister

Lieutenant Brian Frier McAlister was the son of Col R J F McAlister (Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders) and Nora McAlister, and held Indian nationality when he joined the Army.

He became a Lieutenant in the 2nd King Edward VII's Own (The Simoor Rifles) Gurkha Rifles before transferring to Airborne service, attached to 153rd (Gurkha) Parachute Battalion.He took part in the Battle of Sanghak, near Kohima, Burma in March 1944.

Lieutenant McAlister died on 21 March 1944, aged 22 years old. He is now buried at Imphal War Cemetery, Manipur State, India.
